How to get a new Workiz Phone number

In this article, you will learn how to get a new Workiz Phone number.

Workiz is an all-in-one field service management solution with a unique phone system designed for service businesses like yours. In order to use Workiz Phone, you will first need a Workiz Phone number. All Workiz accounts include one phone number at no charge. Purchasing a Workiz Phone  plan lets you add more numbers based on your plan configurations. You can also buy additional phone numbers for an extra fee.

Getting a new Workiz Phone number

Adding new phone numbers to your account may or may not incur an additional charge. This depends on whether your phone plan has unused numbers available.

For example, if your plan includes 5 numbers and you have only used 3, you may obtain two more at no extra cost. Using this same example, if you want a third additional number, you would need to purchase that number and add it to your contract.

  1. From the sidebar menu, select Workiz Phone
  2. Select the Phone numbers tab
  3. Select Get a number

  4. Select the country for your phone number (US or Canada only)
  5. Choose the type of number you want to get (local or toll-free)
  6. Enter or choose the prefix for your phone number (the first 3 digits/area code)
  7. (Optional) Enter a preferred digit sequence to search for matching phone numbers
  8. Select Search
  9. Next to the number you want to add, select Get number

    If you no longer have any available lines on your phone plan, you will be required to purchase the number and add it to your contract. You will be prompted to check out if this number is being acquired as an additional charge.

Setting up your new number to receive calls

To receive calls on your new number, you will need to assign it to a call flow. Call flows determine how incoming calls are routed when customers dial this number.

For example, you can set up your call flow to route calls to:

  • A group of team members
  • An individual user
  • Genius Answering to allow AI to handle calls on your behalf

Until a call flow is assigned and properly configured, any calls made to this number will automatically be sent to voicemail. You can configure your number when first purchasing it or after it has been purchased. Here we'll cover how to do it during the phone-number purchasing process.

  1. Select the first dropdown menu and choose one of the following:

    1. Call Flow: Forward calls made to this phone number as defined by a specific call flow
    2. User: Forward calls made to this phone number to a specific user on your team
    3. Number: Forward calls made to this phone number to a specific external phone number
  2. Select the second dropdown menu and choose the specific call flow, user, or number you want to forward calls to
  3. Select Save

After setting up your new Workiz Phone number, calls made to this new phone number will automatically be forwarded to your specifications.
