Using Ask Genius to answer questions and create custom reports

In this article, you will learn how to open Ask Genius, what kinds of questions you can ask, and how to create and save a custom report from your answer.

Got a question about your business but don't want to dig through reports to find the answer? With Ask Genius, just type your question the way you'd ask a coworker. Ask Genius looks at your Workiz data and gives you a clear answer in seconds. When it makes sense, it can also turn that answer into a full report you can save and come back to anytime.

How to open Ask Genius

  • In the navigation bar, select Ask AI
  • Ask Genius opens. Type your question in the message box and press Enter.

What you can ask

Ask Genius works best with questions about your own business data, such as your jobs, leads, revenue, technicians and clients. Ask in plain language. You don't need to know report names or filters.

Here are a few examples to get you started:

Revenue and performance

  • Which technicians generated the most revenue last month?
  • What was my total revenue this quarter compared to last quarter?
  • Which job types bring in the most revenue?

Services and profitability

  • What services are the most profitable?
  • What's my average job total by service type?

Clients and balances

  • Which customers have the highest unpaid balances?
  • Who are my top 10 clients by revenue this year?

Leads and sales

  • How many leads did we get this month, and how many turned into jobs?
  • Which lead sources bring in the most jobs?

The more specific your question, the better the answer. Include a time period (for example, "last 30 days" or "this year") and what you want to compare.

How to create a report from your answer

For many questions, Ask Genius does more than answer. It will let you know in the chat when it can create a full report with the details behind the answer.

  1. Ask your question in Ask Genius
  2. Review the answer. If a report is available, Ask Genius will offer to create one for you
  3. Select Open Report in Workiz
  4. The report opens in Workiz, already filtered to match your question. From here, you can review the details and adjust columns, filters or the date range as needed.

Ask Genius can currently create reports for jobs and leads. If you don't see an offer to create a report, try rephrasing your question around your jobs or leads.

How to save your report for later

Reports created by Ask Genius aren't saved automatically. To reuse one later, save it as a custom report:

  1. With the report open, select Save report
  2. Enter a name for your report that makes it easy to find later (for example, "Top technicians by revenue – monthly")
  3. Select Save

Your report is added to My reports > Custom reports. Open it anytime to see the latest data with the same filters and columns.
