In this article, you will learn about the "allow billing" setting when creating or editing clients.
This setting helps control whether a client is eligible for invoicing and billing-related actions within Workiz, making it easier to manage customer payment workflows and account restrictions.
| Status | Explained | When to use |
| Enabled | Your team will be allowed to mark jobs done even if there is a due balance on the job. |
|
| Disabled | Your team will not be allowed to mark jobs done if there is a due balance on the job. They will be prompted to satisfy the remaining balance in order to close the job. |

Modifying 'allow billing' for clients
In Workiz, this setting can be managed both at the individual client level and as a global default for all new clients created moving forward.
Global default (all new clients)
The global “allow billing” setting lets you define the default billing behavior for all new clients created in your account moving forward. This can help standardize billing permissions and reduce the need to manually configure each client individually.
This setting only controls the default state for newly created clients and can still be adjusted manually when creating or editing individual client profiles.
Existing clients will not be affected by any changes you make to this setting.
- From the top navigation bar, select your profile icon > Account
- Scroll down and enable/disable the toggle switch for Default "Allow Billing for new clients
- Select Save
Individual clients
You can also control the “allow billing” setting for individual clients, overriding the account default on a per-customer basis. You'll see this option whenever creating a new client, but can also make changes to existing clients.
- Open the profile of the client you want to edit
- Next to their name, select the vertical dots > Edit client info
- Enable/disable the toggle switch for Allow billing
- Select Save
