Duplicating estimates, invoices, and other document templates

  • Updated

In this article, you will learn how to duplicate document templates, such as estimates, invoices, work orders, and other templates.

Duplicating template documents makes it easy to reuse existing layouts, formatting, and content when creating new documents. Instead of starting from scratch, you can use a duplicate as a starting point and make any changes needed for your new template.

How to duplicate a document

In Workiz, template documents are duplicated into new, custom documents. To duplicate a document, you will first need to enable the Custom Documents add-on in the Feature Center

Please note that many document templates are tied to default workflows in Workiz. While you can duplicate these templates, the duplicated versions cannot replace the originals within those workflows.

This applies to documents such as invoices, estimates, work orders, service plan invoices, payment receipts, and purchase orders. For example, selecting "Send invoice" will always use the original invoice template saved to your account, not a duplicate you created.

  1. From the top navigation bar, select your profile icon > Settings
  2. Under General settings, select Documents
  3. Select the document you want to duplicate
  4. Select Duplicate

Your new document will automatically be created and saved to your account. It will include a default name indicating it is a copy (e.g., Invoice copy, Estimate copy, etc.). Be sure to update the name and save your changes.
