In this article, you will learn how to make your Genius Answering calls sound more natural by adding subtle background noise.

Genius Answering is an AI-powered answering service capable of picking up incoming calls, speaking with your customers about the services they need, and even adding jobs to your schedule. Genius Answering is a powerful AI tool built right into Workiz, eliminating the need for manual training.

Jessica (your AI agent) is designed to carry natural, human-like conversations with your customers. In some cases, brief pauses may occur while the AI processes a request, which can momentarily interrupt the natural flow of the call. Adding subtle, ambient office sounds — such as light background chatter or keyboard typing — helps fill those moments and reassures callers that the conversation is still active, not disconnected.

Enabling background noise for AI-handled phone calls

Background noise can be enabled or disabled from your Genius Answering settings. 

  1. From the sidebar menu, select Genius AI
  2. Select Configure
  3. Select Voice & tone
  4. Scroll down to Background noise and check the box for Enable background noise

  5. Select Save

Once enabled, your calls will sound more natural and engaging, minimizing awkward silences and delivering a professional, human-like experience for your customers.
