Preventing Genius Answering from booking outside of your service areas

In this article, you will learn how to customize Genius Answering to prevent your AI agent from booking outside of your service areas.

Depending on your business needs, you may want Genius Answering to book jobs only within your service areas, or allow bookings outside them to capture more opportunities. This setting gives you the flexibility to decide what works best for your team.

How to set service area limitations for Genius Answering 

Before you limit your Genius Answering agent to only book jobs or leads in your service areas, you will need set up the specific areas that your business operates in. This can be based on a mile radius around a zip code or a custom area selection.

  1. From the sidebar menu, select Genius AI
  2. Select Settings
  3. Under Service areas, decide if your AI agent should book jobs/leads outside of your service area and check the box accordingly

    1. Checked: Your AI agent will only accept jobs/leads within your defined service areas. Clients outside of these service areas will be instructed to leave a message instead. 
    2. Unchecked: Your AI agent will accept all appointment requests no matter the service area.

When you choose to limit bookings to your service areas, Genius Answering will treat those boundaries strictly — it won’t make exceptions, even if a job is just a mile outside the area. To give your AI agent more flexibility, update or expand your service areas to include nearby locations.
