In this article, you will learn how to manage spend restrictions for your team using Workiz Card.
Workiz Cards are powered by Workiz Pay, giving you access to a line of credit that you can use to support your business’s day-to-day operations. Workiz Cards come at no cost to your business — no fees, no interest, and no impact on your credit score.
With Workiz Card, you can set spending limits that control daily and monthly budgets for cardholders. You can also restrict card usage to specific merchants (e.g., Home Depot) or spending categories (e.g., Hardware), ensuring better budget management and oversight.
Setting budget limits
- From the sidebar navigation, select Workiz Pay
- Select the Workiz Cards tab
- Select Manage cards
- Next to the card you want to manage, select More > Edit settings
- Next to Budget limit, set your budget
- Enter the maximum spend amount
- Choose the interval you want to limit it to (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly)
Want to remove any budget restrictions from this card? Set the interval to “Unlimited”.
- Select Save
Setting category or merchant restrictions
- From the sidebar navigation, select Workiz Pay
- Select the Workiz Cards tab
- Select Manage cards
- Next to the card you want to manage, select More > Edit settings
- Next to Spend restriction, choose one of the following:
- Limit to categories: Allows you to restrict spending to specific categories (e.g., gas pump, gas station, hardware, etc.)
- Limit to merchants: Allows you to restrict spending to specific merchants (e.g., ARCO, Home Depot, etc.)
- None: Allows you to remove all category/merchant restrictions
- Next to Merchant/Category limit, choose the merchants or categories you want to restrict the card to
- Select Save
Overriding spend restrictions
Budget limits help keep your team’s spending in check, but sometimes flexibility is needed for unplanned or exceptional purchases. With Workiz Card, you’ll receive real-time alerts whenever a team member attempts an unpermitted transaction.
Admins will get a text notification detailing the attempt and can approve it instantly with a quick reply, allowing the cardholder to retry the transaction successfully.
- From the sidebar navigation, select Workiz Pay
- Select the Workiz Cards tab
- Select More > Policy settings
- Next to Allow one-time purchase exceptions, select Enable
- Choose which admins should receive the texts (e.g., all current and future admins or specific admins)
- Select Save
