Giving team members access to the dialer on the mobile app

In this article, you will learn how to enable the dialer on the mobile app. 

The Workiz mobile app can be customized to suit most workflows through the roles and permissions settings in the web app. This includes the option to enable the "Calls" tab on the mobile app, giving team members direct access to the dialer.

Calling from the mobile app without dialer access

Even without access to the mobile dialer, team members can contact clients by using the click-to-call feature from assigned job pages. They will be able to initiate a call using Workiz Phone, ensuring that the call is recorded (if applicable) and logged within the system.

Enabling dialer access on mobile

Before enabling the necessary permissions to grant a team member access to the dialer, it’s important to first consider how you want them to interact with Workiz and your clients. The app is intentionally designed to offer different experiences for various roles within your team. While it’s possible to give all users access to the dialer with a few settings changes, doing so may alter the role-specific experience we’ve carefully designed.

For example, enabling the dialer would require disabling call masking for that user, which means they would have full visibility of client phone numbers. This could impact the level of privacy and limitations you intend to maintain for certain roles. Therefore, it’s crucial to evaluate whether adjusting these settings aligns with the responsibilities and access levels you’ve defined for your team members.

Editing permissions

  1. From the navigation bar, select the profile iconSettings
  2. Under Users & roles, select Roles & permissions
  3. Select the role you want to update
  4. From the Actions tab, turn on the permission for Voice

  5. From the Reports tab, turn on the permission for Call report

  6. Select Save

Disabling call masking

  1. From the navigation bar, select the profile iconSettings
  2. Under Calls & texts, select Call masking
  3. Ensure that call masking is disabled for the users that need access to the mobile dialer

  4. Select Save

This user will now have access to the "Calls" tab on the mobile app, where they can use the dialer to make phone calls. They will also be able to see actual phone numbers from this tab and all assigned job pages.
