In this article, you will learn how tax rates are mapped between Workiz and QuickBooks Online.
Properly mapped tax rates are critical to the ability to sync invoices between Workiz and QuickBooks.
Unlike other resources that are synced between Workiz and QuickBooks, tax rates that exist on one platform will not automatically be created on the other. When syncing an invoice from Workiz to QuickBooks, Workiz will search for a tax rate that matches based on two factors:
- The exact tax rate name
- The exact tax rate (percentage)
Before syncing your Workiz and QuickBooks accounts, we strongly recommend that you review both accounts to ensure that the tax rates you have in Workiz already exist in QuickBooks. The tax rates in QuickBooks must exist exactly as they appear in Workiz.
Potential tax rate issues
Cannot match rate or name
If Workiz cannot locate a matching tax rate based on name or rate, your Workiz tax rate will not be mapped to any tax rate in QuickBooks. This will result in syncing errors when attempting to sync any invoices related to the unmapped tax rate.
Cannot match name
If the exact tax rate name from Workiz cannot be found in QuickBooks when syncing, Workiz will automatically map the Workiz tax rate to the first QuickBooks tax rate with a matching percentage.
You have a tax rate of 9% in Workiz. You also have three tax rates of 9% in QuickBooks Online.
Except, none of the tax rate names in QuickBooks match the one that you have in Workiz.
In this scenario, Workiz will automatically map its 9% tax rate to the first 9% tax rate in QuickBooks — regardless of whether the tax rate names match or bear any similarity.
This may negatively impact your reporting.
