In this article, you will learn how clients can opt out of receiving text messages from your business.
Major carriers across North America recently adopted changes aimed at protecting consumers from spam messages. These changes impact the way businesses like yours can send messages to consumers using a software service for business messaging such as Workiz Phone.
How clients can unsubscribe
To satisfy these requirements, Workiz will automatically follow up the first text message you send to a new client with a message that includes instructions on how to opt out of receiving messages from your business. This setting is required and cannot be disabled.
Clients will be able to reply to your business with the following keywords to opt out at any time:
- STOP
- STOPALL
- UNSUBSCRIBE
- CANCEL
- END
- QUIT
Only single-word messages will trigger the block. For example, if a client texts "CANCEL," they will be unsubscribed from future messages. But if a client texts "Please cancel my appointment," they will not be unsubscribed.
After clients unsubscribe
If a client unsubscribes using one of the keywords, you will receive the text message containing the keyword. Once a client has unsubscribed, any future text messages you attempt to send to this client will fail to send.
After a client unsubscribes, they will receive a follow-up message with instructions on how to resubscribe. Clients will be able to reply with the following keywords to resubscribe:
- START
- YES
- UNSTOP
Even if a client unsubscribes from text messages, you will still be able to contact them via phone or email.
