In this article, you will learn how to request a deposit on your estimates in Workiz.
Estimates are a great way to inform your clients about the cost of your services before committing to a job. They are a valuable tool to make sure both you and your client are on the same page.
With estimates, you can request a deposit for your services to make it easier for your customers to commit to jobs.
Note: In order to request a deposit on an estimate, you must first enable online payments by activating your Workiz Pay account. To learn more about Workiz Pay, please see this article.
Requesting a deposit on estimates
From the sidebar navigation, select Estimates
Select the estimate you want to request a deposit for
Scroll down past the line items and select Deposit
Choose whether you want to request a percentage or dollar-amount deposit for this estimate, and then enter the percentage or dollar amount
Tip: If you would like to use these deposit settings for all future estimates, check the box for Set for future estimates.
Select Save
Scroll to the top of the page and select Send
Ensure Let client pay deposit online is selected
Select Send Text or Send Email as desired
What your clients will see
Your customers will receive an email or text message that includes your message and a link to view and approve the estimate in the Workiz customer portal. If you added a deposit request in your estimate, they will see the option to pay using a credit card.

How you’ll be notified of a deposit payment
If your client chooses to pay the deposit online, you will be notified in the Message Center.

Manually submitting an offline deposit payment
If your client chooses to pay the deposit offline, you can manually enter the deposit information on the estimate page.
